The diplomacy of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gives the necessary dynamics to the entire complex of Russian-Kazakh cooperation. This was announced on October 22 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after a meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev.

"The talks were frank and constructive. <...> I believe that this confirms the special nature of our relations, the relations of alliance and strategic partnership," Lavrov said.

He added that the ministers paid special attention to the preparation of Tokayev's state visit to Russia, scheduled for November 12. Lavrov recalled that Putin had visited Astana a year earlier.

In addition, the leaders met several times in person in Moscow and on the sidelines of international events in Belarus, China, and Tajikistan during the year, the Russian Foreign Minister added.

In a conversation with Tokayev on October 10, Putin called Russia and Kazakhstan the initiators of integration processes in the post-Soviet space. He also noted the "special relationship" between the two countries. According to Putin, Russia values relations with Kazakhstan.

On October 14, the Kremlin's website reported that during a conversation with Tokayev, Putin discussed issues of cooperation between the countries in the context of preparations for the Kazakh leader's state visit to Russia. The practical aspects of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries were also touched upon.
