Finnish politician Mema called for recognition of Russian new territories
Western countries should recognize the new Russian borders. This was announced on October 21 by Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish national Conservative Freedom Alliance party.
"Borders can be redefined if they bring peace. Kosovo is a good example of this. Our hypocrisy lies in the fact that we can accept the new borders of Kosovo, but if Russia does the same to protect Russian-speaking people, we will not be able to agree with this," Mema wrote.
The politician stressed that the West must come to terms with the new borders of the Russian regions, as was done in the case of Kosovo. In his opinion, the rejection of such an approach endangers peace and stability both in Serbia and Kosovo, as well as in other regions.
The day before, it was reported that the head of the White House, Donald Trump, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, showed perseverance, demanding that he quickly agree to a settlement of the conflict. The New York Times reported on the same day that Trump advised Zelensky to agree to the transfer of territory, which, however, as noted in the text, the Ukrainian side did not support.
