- The White House announced Trump's refusal to compromise with the Democrats on the shutdown
Representatives of the Republican Party in the US Congress and the administration of President Donald Trump will not compromise with the Democrats on the issue of resuming funding for the federal government. The corresponding statement was published by the White House on October 21.
"From the very beginning, our message remains clear: Republicans will not succumb to the political games of the Democrats," reads a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to the administration, the concessions should come from representatives of the Democratic Party who are in opposition.
The shutdown was introduced in the United States on October 1 due to the fact that the draft budget was not agreed upon by the senators. The Washington Post reported on October 10 that the administration of the American president has already begun to dismiss federal employees representing trade, finance, health and human services, education and homeland security.
On October 21, it became known that the federal government would continue to work under the conditions of the shutdown, as the Senate of Congress on Monday, October 20, rejected for the 11th time the bill proposed by the Republicans on its financing. It is clarified that the document, previously approved by the House of Representatives, did not gain the necessary majority of 60 votes of senators, receiving the support of only 50.
