The scammers began contacting people under the pretext of concluding contracts for the supply of thermal energy, thus obtaining the victim's personal data. This was reported by RIA Novosti on October 22.
Phone scammers call Russians and pose as employees of a heating company. During the conversation, they try to convince the victim to sign a heating contract, after which they ask for passport information for allegedly drafting documents.
With a person's personal data, attackers can gain access to their credit history, work information, and personal account on the Gosuslugi portal.
Earlier, on October 22, it was reported that intruders were actively using a scheme to deceive pensioners, who were first promised benefits for communication services, and then required to declare funds allegedly for their safety.
