Trump reiterated India's reduction in oil purchases from Russia
US President Donald Trump announced on October 21 that India would allegedly reduce purchases of Russian oil.
"He (Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi) is not going to buy a lot of oil from Russia," Trump said during a conversation with reporters in the Oval Office.
According to him, India has already reduced the volume of oil purchases from the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on October 17, Trump had already stated during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky at the White House that India would not buy Russian oil. Then he also drew attention to the fact that the share of oil from the Russian Federation in Indian imports is 38%.
A day earlier, the American leader said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi allegedly assured him that the country would not buy Russian oil. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal, commenting on Trump's words, said that India focuses on the interests of its consumers in the field of energy imports.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak noted that Russia is confident in the stability of oil exports to India, and the country's authorities will continue to cooperate with Russia on the issue of energy resources. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Moscow in this context focuses primarily on official statements from New Delhi and Beijing.
