- The Turkish parliament has extended the mandate of its troops in Syria and Iraq for three years.
The Turkish parliament has approved a resolution to extend the mandate of the Turkish Armed Forces in Syria and Iraq for three years. This was announced by the parliamentary press service on October 21.
"The parliament has ratified the president's proposal to extend the mandate of the Turkish armed Forces in Syria and Iraq for three years," RIA Novosti quoted the press service as saying.
It is clarified that the presence of Turkish military personnel on the territory of these states is due to the presence of terrorist groups in them.
On October 11, the head of the parliamentary group of the Justice and Development Party, Abdullah Guler, said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Intelligence Organization and the Turkish Defense Ministry were discussing the details of a possible deployment of the country's military to the Gaza Strip. He noted that it concerns both the mutual ceasefire regime in Gaza and the subsequent measures that will be taken in the region.
