The decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) not to allow Russian skiers to participate in international competitions is another manifestation of stubbornness and stupidity. This was announced on October 21 by Alexander Panzhinsky, silver medalist of the 2010 Olympics.

"Once again, they showed some kind of stubbornness and stupidity. <...> I am saddened by such a decision, such short-sightedness of representatives of the international federation," he said in an interview with TASS.

The athlete stressed that European skiers have repeatedly appealed for Russians to be allowed to compete, as they would like to meet "with the strongest" in the framework of the championships. According to Panzhinsky, such a decision by the FIS is a loss for all parties and participants of the Olympic Games.

The decision not to allow Russians to participate in international competitions became known on the same day. The website of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) called this verdict discriminatory and contrary to the principles of political neutrality.
