- The expert assessed the impact of family studies on children's understanding of values
Yulia Yevgrafova, head of the laboratory at the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Upbringing, said that family studies in schools will change children's understanding of values.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, October 21, she said that the course is divided into two stages: for students in grades 5-9 and 10-11. According to the expert, the main goal of the program is to deepen the content of the subject and build a value line of attitude towards family and marriage throughout the school years.
The program for high school students is already being tested, and for secondary schools it is under development. Both courses include five key sections. For younger students, they are dedicated to family values, traditions, comfort, health and family support by society. High school students have similar topics, with a more adult focus, for example, on personal relationships and growing up.
The expert noted that the first feedback from students in grades 10-11 is positive: the students note that the course helps to build life priorities, teaches them how to resolve family conflicts, communicate with parents and understand relationships with the opposite sex.
She added that the issue of including family studies in the compulsory school curriculum has not yet been resolved — it will depend on the results of the approbation.
On October 10, the first Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bugaev, said that family studies modules should appear in pedagogical universities to train more specialists to introduce the "My Family" course in Russian schools. According to him, the course, which is currently being tested, will be expanded and will reach every educational organization as far as possible, the website writes kp.ru .
