At least 30 people have died in Nigeria due to a fuel tanker explosion.
At least 30 people were killed and 40 injured while pumping fuel from the tank of a tanker truck that was involved in an accident on the Agaye-Bida road in Niger State (Nigeria). This was reported by The Nation newspaper on October 21.
"The victims were involved in collecting fuel when it exploded. <...> the victims were taken to the hospital for medical treatment," the publication says.
Last year, at least 140 deaths were reported as a result of a fuel tanker explosion in Nigeria. It was noted that the tanker driver lost control, after which the tank overturned and the fuel spilled into the drainage ditch, where the fire started.
