In Yakutsk, the construction of the first bridge support over the Lena River was completed from the village of Tabaga. The opening ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 21st.

"The installation of all the concrete structures of the Lena Bridge, including the spans that will appear next year, will begin from pillar No. 4. This is not a structural element, but a permanent part of the bridge," Kirill Bychkov, Chairman of the Government of Yakutia, said at the ceremony, as quoted by IA YakutiaMedia.

According to the press service of the head and government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the bridge builders intend to build the second pillar by the end of 2025. She will appear on the right bank of Lena.

The start of the main construction cycle of the Lena Bridge was given a year ago, on October 17, 2024. As of October 21, 2025, workers have already drilled and filled 111 of the 920 piles needed to install 26 supports. The construction is carried out according to the schedule. Also, over the past year, a construction infrastructure has been created, including concrete plants in the Arctic design, workshops for the manufacture of armored frames, warm warehouses, garages for machinery and much more.

According to Kirill Bychkov, the launching of two cofferdams will be the main event in 2026. The technology will be used in Russia for the first time. After that, the construction of the pillars will enter a more active phase, and the first spans of the bridge will appear.

Cofferdams are massive steel structures with a height of more than 17 m and a diameter of up to 46 m. They create dry working areas in the riverbed, thus allowing construction to be carried out with strong currents, ice drift or fluctuations in the water level.

The Lena River bridge will run from the village of Staraya Tabaga (part of the Yakutsk border) to the village of Khaptagai in the Megino-Kangalassky district. Thanks to him, a transport and logistics hub will be created in Yakutsk, where federal routes will converge: river, aviation and railway, as well as federal highways Vilyu, Kolyma and Lena. In the future, the ferry will help create an international transport corridor between Russia and the Asia–Pacific region.
