According to the source, the telephone conversation between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was productive. However, as Trump stressed, at the moment the parties are not ready for negotiations at this level, and the negotiation process cannot move forward.
On October 20, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed possible concrete steps in a telephone conversation to implement the understandings that were reached during the talks between Putin and Trump.
Subsequently, on October 21, CNN announced that the meeting between Rubio and Lavrov had been postponed. It was noted that the reasons for the postponement of the meeting are not known.
