The decision to establish an automobile production facility as part of Izhmash was made on October 21, 1965. This is reported in the press release of AvtoVAZ, received by Izvestia.

Production of cars under the IZH brand started on December 12, 1966. Starting with the assembly of the Muscovites, Izhevsk Automobile Plant soon began to produce its own models — with the "combi" body type, as well as light commercial "heels". Later, the company mastered the production of foreign cars — Kia and Nissan, as well as components for Renault and Datsun.

Since 2011, the plant has been operating as part of AvtoVAZ. In 2014, the company mastered the production of the LADA Granta liftback, and in 2015 it began production of the Lada Vesta family, and then Lada Largus. Over the past 60 years, about 6 million cars of various brands have rolled off the assembly line at Izhevsk Automobile Plant, of which more than a million were Lada.

An application for registration of a new Lada Salut trademark has appeared in the open database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS). A promising Lada model may receive the name Salut in the future.

The Lada Salut trademark is registered according to the 12th class of the International Classification of Goods and services (ICTS), which includes cars, among other things, Izvestia noted.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
