Over the past day, 295 road accidents have occurred in Russia.
Over the past 24 hours, 295 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 26 people were killed and 347 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on October 21 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
As a result of 113 accidents involving pedestrians, 13 people were killed, and 107 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 21 children, 17 of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings, four outside the pedestrian crossing. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 61 occurred on zebras and 52 outside their area of operation.
In addition, 31 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads over the past day, as a result of which 33 young road users were injured, including ten passengers and one motor vehicle driver. 17 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which 23 road users required medical attention. Ten bus accidents were caused by traffic violations by their drivers.
The State Traffic Inspectorate strongly recommends that all motorists check the technical condition of their vehicle properly before any departure, paying special attention to the serviceability of the braking system, external lighting devices, the condition of the tires and their compliance with the season.
"While driving, drivers are required to choose a safe speed mode in order to be able to react in time to a possible sudden change in the road situation due to pedestrians violating Traffic Rules. It is also always necessary to slow down until the vehicle comes to a complete stop when approaching crossings in order to allow pedestrians crossing the roadway to pass," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
If there are child passengers in the car, drivers are required to strictly comply with safety requirements by using child restraints, car seats and car seats in accordance with the height and weight of young road users, the State Traffic Inspectorate emphasizes. The traffic police also draw parents' attention to the need to monitor the behavior of their primary school—age children, reminding them of the inadmissibility of leaving them alone on the street, especially near the carriageway or when crossing the road.
Earlier today it became known that three people were injured in an accident involving an ambulance in the Irkutsk region. It was reported that the driver and passenger of the foreign car were hospitalized. The ambulance driver was alone in the car at the time of the collision, he received one-time medical care.
