Kovalchuk pointed to the revival of JINR in Dubna
The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna is being revived and is moving to a new level. This was announced on October 21 by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center.
"We have a unique preservation, revival, and transfer to a new level of a unique, one of the world's best potential in the field of accelerator physics, nuclear physics, and high—energy physics. The construction of the NICA facility in Dubna was launched and Dubna was reborn," Kovalchuk said, speaking at the international forum of nature-like technologies.
He also noted that the PIK reactor was launched in Gatchina, as well as the SKIF synchrotron (Siberian Ring Photon Source). In addition, the site at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok was preserved.
"We now have the last site of these most powerful world—famous complexes, Protvino, and it has also now been revived in virtually all areas," Kovalchuk added.
Earlier, on October 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that only the Russian Federation has competencies along the entire chain in nuclear energy. He stressed that when building energy facilities abroad, Russia forms a solid national human, scientific, and technological development base.
