Aliev announced the lifting of restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia
Azerbaijan has lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia through its territory. This was stated on October 21 by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a joint press conference with Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"I must also say that Azerbaijan has lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia that have existed since the occupation, and the first such transit cargo was a cargo of Kazakh grain to Armenia," the APA news agency quoted him as saying.
In addition, Aliyev said that this is an important step for establishing peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia "not only on paper, but also in practice."
On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Aliyev signed a declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. They agreed to end the confrontation and resume diplomatic relations. Pashinyan noted that Yerevan and Baku established peace by signing documents in the United States.
On September 1, Pashinyan stated that Armenia is ready to fulfill the agreements reached with Azerbaijan, adopted in the United States, and is determined to implement them quickly.
On September 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that it is necessary to assess how the agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan will actually work. The Russian Foreign Minister also noted that the current agreement grew out of the agreements reached in 2020-2022 between the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
