Washington expects the G7 countries, in particular Canada and the United Kingdom, to increase economic pressure on Russia. This was announced by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

"The [US] administration expects Europe to play a leading role in increasing pressure on Russia through coordinated actions by the G7," he said after meetings last week with the heads of the British, German and Canadian finance ministries, Rachel Reeves and Lars Klingbeil, Francois-Philippe Champagne, respectively.
