The doctor named a fruit useful for the cardiovascular system
Persimmon is a healthy fruit that has a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system. Evgeny Belousov, a gastroenterologist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg clinic), told about this on October 21.
He specified that it is rich in potassium and magnesium, which are necessary for the normal functioning of the heart. In addition, persimmon contains antioxidants that protect cells from damage and reduce the risk of heart disease.
"Persimmon is a valuable dietary product that, if consumed wisely, brings significant benefits to the body," he added in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
According to the expert, it is filled with vitamins (A, C, group B), minerals (potassium, magnesium, calcium) and fiber. Fiber improves digestion, supports healthy intestinal microflora, and helps control cholesterol levels. 100 g of persimmon contains a significant amount of potassium (up to 180 mg), which regulates the water-salt balance and supports the functioning of the heart and muscles.
Belousov also said that persimmons contain magnesium, calcium, iron and manganese in an easily digestible form. Antioxidants such as tannins, catechins, and anthocyanins have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, as well as potentially protecting against the development of tumors. All these substances are important for maintaining the health of the heart and blood vessels.
The doctor recommended eating one or two persimmon fruits per day, preferably in combination with other foods, such as cottage cheese, nuts, or as a dessert after meals. He also called for remembering the individual characteristics of the body and avoiding overeating, especially unripe persimmons.
On October 6, Natalia Tananakina, an endocrinologist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), Ph.D., spoke about the effect of seasonal foods on blood sugar. She clarified that in the autumn period, when people move less and stay at home more often due to cold and rainy weather, the risk of blood sugar spikes increases. Foods that seem healthy, such as apples, carrots, and pumpkins, can increase the glycemic load when consumed excessively.
