The Federation Council talked about the possibility of forming a future pension from the age of 14

Russians can start forming their future pension as early as their teens. Natalia Koshikhina, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, told about this on October 21.

According to her, employment from the age of 14 is possible, subject to certain legislative norms.

"This will help them to positively influence the size of their future pension even at the stage of study and start saving retirement points before reaching the age of 18," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The senator clarified that the independent conclusion of an employment contract is possible from the age of 16, and up to this age, the consent of parents and guardianship authorities is required. Koshikhina stressed that the legislation protects minors from working in harmful conditions and in areas that may negatively affect their development. For example, teenagers will be denied employment in nightclubs, alcohol sales, or gambling.

In addition, Koshikhina recalled the restrictions on the length of the working week: up to 16 years — no more than 24 hours, from 16 to 18 years — no more than 35 hours. If a teenager combines work with study, working hours are halved. There are also restrictions on the length of the working day: for 14-15 years — no more than 4 hours, for 15-16 years — no more than 5 hours, for 16-18 years — no more than 7 hours.
