Investigators have discovered new evidence in the Louvre robbery case.
Investigators from the Anti-Banditry Brigade (BRB), together with employees of the Central Directorate for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property (OCBC), have discovered new physical evidence, namely a motorcycle helmet and a glove, in the investigation of the robbery at the Louvre in Paris. This was reported by the newspaper Le Parisien on October 20.
"Now the experts will have to examine these clues. Along with the helmet, investigators found a glove in the basket, as well as keys to a truck equipped with a lift, which the criminals used to access the balcony and gallery windows," the material says.
According to the newspaper, investigative measures are continuing: the collection of witness statements and material evidence.
Earlier, on October 19, French Culture Minister Rachida Dati reported a robbery that took place on Sunday morning at the Louvre. According to Le Parisien, several intruders broke windows in the main Paris museum and stole jewelry.
On the same day, Le Parisien reported that the broken crown of Emperor Napoleon III's wife Eugenie was found near the Louvre after a robbery. According to French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, the robbery "lasted 7 minutes."
Later, on October 19, the French police discovered the items used by the intruders during the Louvre robbery. It was clarified that two grinders, a gas burner, a container of gasoline, gloves, a walkie-talkie and a blanket were found at the crime scene.
The Reuters news agency reported on October 20 that the French authorities plan to review measures to protect cultural sites across the country and, if necessary, strengthen security measures after the theft of jewelry in the Louvre.
