The first meeting of the Youth Chamber was held in the Moscow City Duma
Dmitry Khramchenkov, 20, an activist of the Student Parliamentary Clubs project and one of the participants of the educational project Workshop of Knowledge, became the chairman of the Youth Chamber of the Moscow City Duma. He was elected at the first meeting of the Chamber.
"The Youth Chamber will deal with all key issues of the city's life: from youth policy, education, sports, to culture and entrepreneurship," said Alexei Shaposhnikov, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma. According to him, 13 specialized sections have been created in each area of work.
Two working groups were also formed at the meeting — on patriotic education of young people and support for participants in the special military operation (SVO) and their family members. Alexander Kryazhev, a member of the SVO, became the head of the second group.
The Chamber gathered participants from various metropolitan associations that specialize in parliamentary work: representatives of parties, municipalities, sectoral youth councils, district youth chambers and student parliamentary clubs, said Kryazhev. "We complement each other and are experts in our field," he commented.
The Youth Chamber has been formed for a period of two years. It included 60 young people aged 18-35. Candidates were selected from the capital's political and public organizations. Political parties won 15 seats: 11 for United Russia and one each for other parties, according to their representation in the Moscow City Duma. The chamber also includes 12 municipal deputies, one deputy from each district. There are 11 more people from regional youth chambers, youth councils at the capital's departments and students.
