Bulgaria is ready to provide Putin with an air corridor to the summit in Hungary
Sofia is ready to provide an air corridor for Russian President Vladimir Putin's plane on its way to Budapest for a meeting with American leader Donald Trump, if necessary. This was announced on October 20 by Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev.
"When efforts are being made to achieve peace, it is logical to provide all the conditions to achieve the task," Georgiev told the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
Journalists asked him if Sofia was ready to provide an air corridor for the Russian leader's plane. In response, Georgiev noted that the meeting would not be able to take place if one of its participants failed to attend it.
On October 19, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto announced that every effort would be made to ensure a successful meeting between Putin and Trump. According to him, the details of the Russian-American talks will become known after consultations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which will take place in the coming days.
On October 16, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Hungary. He also called the phone conversation between the American and Russian leaders productive. Later, he expressed hope for the summit to be held within two weeks.
