Investigators have opened a criminal case against an employee of the Federal Tax Service in Dagestan for illegal access to computer information. This was reported on October 20 in the Department of the Russian Federal Security Service for Dagestan.

It is specified that the accused connected to the automated information system "Tax-3" in order to improve his performance.

"The Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, based on the materials of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the republic, has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Unlawful access to computer information")," TASS quoted the agency as saying.

According to the investigation, the inspector of the Federal Tax Service of the city of Dagestan Lights, in an effort to reduce the level of tax arrears on his property, illegally connected to a secure computer system, where he deleted data on accrued debts and calculations on transport and land taxes.

As a result of these actions, the total amount of accrued taxes for taxpayers was reduced by more than 3 million rubles. Investigative measures are currently being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the crime.

On October 19, it was reported that a criminal case on abuse of office had been opened against the first deputy head of Nefteyugansk. According to the investigation, in 2023, the accused took actions to sell the property of a joint-stock company, of which Nefteyugansk itself is the founder, at a greatly reduced price, while violating the rules.
