The White House allowed the imminent end of the shutdown in the United States
The White House announced the timing of the resumption of government work. This was announced on October 20 by Kevin Hassett, head of the White House National Economic Council.
It is clarified that, according to Hassett, the shutdown in the United States may end this week.
"But if this does not happen, the Trump administration [of the US president] may introduce 'tougher measures' to force the Democrats to cooperate," CNBC quoted him as saying.
The publication notes that the comments of the head were made during the third week of the shutdown, which is taking place against the background of an inter-party struggle in the Senate over federal funding priorities.
Earlier, on October 16, it was reported that about 100,000 contractors involved in the modernization and maintenance of the US nuclear arsenal may be left without pay due to the government shutdown. Chris Wright, the head of the Department of Energy, noted that these contractors are not government employees and therefore will not receive salaries starting next Monday if the shutdown drags on.
