Sochi authorities decided to start the heating season ahead of schedule due to low air temperatures. The corresponding statement was made by the mayor of the resort Andrey Proshunin in his Telegram.

"The weather doesn't wait for official dates, which means we can't wait for people to feel uncomfortable in their homes. This also applies to children in schools and kindergartens, patients in hospitals," the mayor wrote on Monday, October 20.

Residents of apartment buildings and social institutions located in the most mountainous and climatically vulnerable settlements of the municipality will be the first to receive heat.

According to the official, now utilities will have to monitor the supply of resources very carefully and respond promptly to failures. The mass launch of heating in Sochi will be carried out from November 5, writes KrasnodarMedia news agency.

Earlier in October, Izvestia reported that heating had already been turned on in 73 regions of Russia, and 98.9% of apartment buildings were ready for winter. The country's energy system is ready for winter consumption peaks.
