Oleg Budnik, a resident of Crimea, received 17 years in a strict regime penal colony for transmitting data on the defense of the coast to Ukraine. This was announced on October 20 by the press service of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

"It has been established that Budnik was involved in confidential cooperation by a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine," TASS quoted him as saying.

Budnik was detained by officers of the border department of the FSB of Russia. He is accused of collecting and transmitting confidential information via messengers about defensive structures, the composition of forces and means involved in the protection of the Black Sea coast of Crimea, on the instructions of his supervisor.

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea found Budnik guilty, sentencing him to 17 years in a high-security penal colony, as well as a fine of 200 thousand rubles.

Earlier, on October 18, it was reported that the president of the non-profit partnership International Association of Private Detectives, Andrei Matushkin, was detained in a case of treason. It is noted that Matushkin was engaged in collecting information constituting a state secret and passed it abroad. In addition, he is suspected of collaborating with foreign intelligence, presumably from the Baltic countries.
