In one of the schools in Buryatia, a fight broke out between a teacher and a student, as a result of which a teenager broke his wrist. This was announced on October 20 by Veronika Shtykina, the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the region. According to her, the incident occurred on Friday, October 17, at the village school of the Ivolginsky district.

A video of the incident appeared online: the footage shows how a teacher and a student get into a fight in the school's dressing room, and classmates try to separate them.

The Minister of Education and Science of Buryatia, Valery Pozdnyakov, noted that a second-year physics and mathematics teacher was involved in the incident.

Why was there a fight between a teacher and a student in Buryatia

The conflict between the student and the teacher began at recess after mutual insults, according to Telegram channel 112. According to Minister Valery Pozdnyakov, the teacher was unable to cope with the conflict due to lack of experience.

Currently, the school has commissions from the district department of Education and the school itself, and a mediation service meeting is being held with the participation of all parties. In parallel, the investigative authorities are conducting an inspection.

The press service of Rosobrnadzor reported that the Ministry of Education of Buryatia is cooperating with the Commissioner for Children's Rights for an objective and fair investigation. After all the checks are completed, official conclusions will be drawn and measures will be taken in accordance with the law.

Lawyers point out that the law on education enshrines the right of students to respect human dignity, protection from any form of physical and psychological violence, as well as to protect life and health.

It is noteworthy that teachers, according to the same law, are required to comply with legal, moral and ethical standards and respect the honor and dignity of students.

According to the law, child abuse involves the use of physical or psychological violence against minors. This can be expressed in the use of unacceptable parenting methods — rude, humiliating or neglectful treatment, as well as beatings, including in front of other children.

If a criminal case is initiated, the most severe sanction is three years in prison. In addition, it will be difficult to return to the profession after such an incident, as the decision will have to be made by the commission for minors and the protection of their rights, established in the region.
