There was tension on board during the emergency landing of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft, but the pilots were able to land the aircraft safely at Pulkovo Airport. On October 20, an eyewitness, Alexei Milenin, a passenger on the plane, told Izvestia about this.

"There was panic, there were prayers, tears, screams. We grouped up in an emergency, but, thank God, we landed safely," the passenger said.

At the same time, he added that the plane landed "in a field" — rolled out of the runway (runway). According to Milenin, the plane circled St. Petersburg for a total of four hours.

Technical problems after the takeoff of the St. Petersburg - Baku AZAL flight were reported earlier that day. Subsequently, the plane successfully landed at Pulkovo Airport. Before that, the aircraft could not land for a long time due to malfunctions. Upon landing, he rolled slightly off the runway.

As a result of the incident, the airport temporarily stopped accepting and sending flights. These restrictions were later lifted.
