12 people were injured in a bus accident in Sri Lanka.
In Sri Lanka, a bus carrying a group of schoolchildren from Sapugaskanda was involved in an accident near the Batuvatte railway station. The incident occurred around noon, when the children were returning from an educational event. This was reported on October 19 by the Daily Mirror newspaper.
"The students were returning from a jamboree held at the Maha Vidyalaya Batuvatta when the incident occurred. About 20 children, as well as several teachers and parents, were on the bus at the time of the accident," the publication says.
It is specified that as a result of the accident, nine students and three adults were injured in various degrees of severity. All the injured were taken to Ragama Hospital, where they are receiving the necessary medical care.
Ragama Police Station has launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident.
Earlier, on September 25, the Russian Embassy confirmed the death of a Buddhist monk from Russia in Sri Lanka. The incident occurred on a cable car. The embassy expressed its readiness to provide the necessary consular assistance in the event of a request from the relatives of the deceased.
