A group of deputies will submit to the State Duma a bill on granting seven days of additional paid leave for fathers of newborn children. This was reported on October 20.

"Today, Russian fathers do not have separate paid leave due to the birth of a child. We consider this unfair," Dmitry Gusev told TASS.

At the suggestion of the legislators, it will be possible to take advantage of the leave upon written application once a year from the date of the child's birth. Unused vacation time after the expiration date is not compensated monetarily.

The authors of the bill note that the introduction of additional leave will have a positive social and economic impact, allowing fathers to be close to the family in the first days of a child's life. Among the authors of the initiative are representatives of the parties "Fair Russia", the Communist Party and the Liberal Democratic Party.

Earlier, on September 9, it was reported that the State Duma discussed the possibility of calculating parental leave for up to one and a half years in the insurance period in double the amount. This measure is aimed at supporting parents, especially those with many children, and increasing the level of social and pension provision.
