Belarus calls Europe a threat to itself
It is not Belarus or Russia that pose a danger to European countries, but they themselves are a threat. This position was expressed by the head of the republic's Security Council, Alexander Volfovich, on October 19 in an interview with the First Information TV channel.
"Look at where Europe is heading. After all, it is not Belarus that threatens Europe and not the Russian Federation. In my opinion, they are threatening themselves," said Volfovich.
According to him, European countries are actively militarizing.
"All the money, to the detriment of socio-economic projects, goes to defense needs. 5% OF GDP [Gross domestic product], 3.5% — directly for military expenditures, that is, for the purchase of new types of weapons and military equipment," stressed the head of the Security Council of Belarus.
He added that European intelligence assets are flying along the borders with the republic, despite the absence of a threat from Belarus.
Despite this, various military exercises are taking place in Belarus, which are aimed at practicing maneuvers to protect the country from possible Western influences.
Volfovich expressed similar concern on October 12. He stressed that Belarus would always be ready to protect its residents and the country's territory in any case.
Earlier on October 11, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the start of an inspection of the country's Armed Forces with full combat readiness. A number of units of the Belarusian army will take part in it.: They will move to the designated areas and carry out the activities provided for by the order. The inspection is led by the State Secretariat of the Security Council of Belarus.
On September 16, Belarus noted the good training of troops during the Zapad exercises. The first Deputy Minister of Defense of the country, Major General Pavel Muraveyko, noted that the military had learned how to deal with drones, studied the forms and methods of action to storm settlements, as well as to clean up the area. On the same day, Russian leader Vladimir Putin visited the Mulino training ground, where the main stage of the exercises took place. He put on a field set of military uniforms without shoulder straps, with patches "President of the Russian Federation" and "Putin V.V.".
