A jeweler from Paris questioned the authenticity of valuable exhibits stolen from the Louvre

The owner of a jewelry store in Paris, Justin Turcoit, suggested that the jewelry stolen from the Louvre could be copies. He informed Izvestia about this on October 19.

"I have been a jewelry dealer in Paris for 25 years. Small, small decorations. But I have anti—burglar glass. It won't be broken in seven minutes," Turcoit said.

According to the jeweler, the very organization of security in the museum raises questions. He pointed out that large jewelry boutiques use display cases with automatic safes, where jewelry falls when trying to break in.

"How can you imagine that such treasures — the largest diamonds of the French crown – are not protected by burglar-proof display cases? Or are these exhibition copies?" he noted.

Turcoit added that after the incident, the museum's management is likely to be asked numerous questions.

The Louvre was robbed on October 19th. According to the newspaper Le Parisien, several criminals broke windows in the museum and stole jewelry. They managed to escape. It was reported that the attackers were armed. The Louvre administration has closed the museum to the public. According to French Culture Minister Rachida Dati, the Louvre robbery was committed by professionals. It took the criminals four minutes.

According to Le Parisien, the broken crown of Emperor Napoleon III's wife Eugenie was found near the Louvre after a robbery. As noted by French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, the robbery took seven minutes. Subsequently, the publication noted that the criminals had not touched the largest diamond from Napoleon's collection, the Regent, weighing more than 140 carats. It is specified that as a result of the incident, items were stolen from the "Napoleon" and "French Monarchs" showcases.
