A woman who abandoned a stroller with a baby was arrested in St. Petersburg for two months.

The Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for Yana Shpakovskaya, accused of attempted murder of a minor child. This was reported on October 19 in the Telegram channel of the United Press Service of the city courts.

"The investigation believes that on 10/17/2025 <...> Shpakovskaya left her young daughter <...> on the territory of a container garbage dump located at the junction of houses 205 and 205, lit," the report says.

The next day, Shpakovskaya was detained. She was charged under Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime") and paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder"). During the interrogation, the woman stated that she did not want her child to die and asked for a preventive measure unrelated to the arrest.

After reviewing the case file, the court granted the investigation's request and decided to detain the accused until December 15, 2025.
