According to the army press service, on October 19, the Palestinians fired an anti-tank rocket and opened fire on Israeli army troops, thereby grossly violating the ceasefire. The IDF struck back several times.
"In response to the gross violation of the ceasefire agreement, earlier today, the IDF launched a series of strikes against Hamas terror targets in the southern Gaza Strip," the army said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
Earlier in the day, The Times of Israel reported that Israel had carried out airstrikes on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip in response to an attack on the IDF forces there. In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the IDF to take decisive action against terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz also threatened a harsh response from Hamas for possible violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
On October 13, US President Donald Trump announced the end of the war in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages by the Hamas movement. According to him, representatives of the Palestinian movement will implement the disarmament plan. Later, at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, representatives of Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Turkey signed an agreement to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
