A resident of Moscow lost a record 450 million rubles due to cyberbullying
A resident of Moscow lost 450 million rubles due to cyberbullying, which was a record amount recorded in the spring of this year. This was announced on October 19 by Anton Kononenko, head of the Department for Combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Russian Interior Ministry in the capital.
"The highest amount of damage caused by cyber fraud in Moscow is 450 million rubles," he told Interfax.
According to Kononenko, over the past few years, fraudulent schemes "have begun to be committed for a million rubles and above." Despite the fact that earlier the agency investigated similar crimes with damages of 15-50 thousand rubles, however, now 80% of cases belong to the categories of "grave" and "especially grave", which start from the amount of 250 thousand rubles.
Kononenko added that a significant part of cybercrimes in the capital are also committed by Ukrainian hackers. Call centers are particularly active in the Dnipropetrovsk and Odessa regions. At the same time, eight out of 10 cybercrimes are committed by people who are located outside the Russian territory.
On October 18, Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, federal coordinator of the Digital Russia party project, warned that fraud cases have become more frequent in the Russian Federation, when attackers demand to send them copies of passports, INN, SNILS or bank card numbers allegedly to "conclude an agreement" for training or internship.
