On October 19, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz threatened a harsh response to the Palestinian Hamas movement for possible violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

"Hamas will pay a heavy price for any shooting and violation of the ceasefire, and if this message is not understood, the intensity of the response will increase," The Times of Israel newspaper quoted him as saying.

Earlier in the day, The Times of Israel reported that Israel had carried out airstrikes on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip in response to an attack on the IDF forces there. Later, the army press service confirmed the strikes. At the same time, Hamas confirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and blamed Israel for its violation.

In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the IDF to take decisive action against terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip.

On October 13, US President Donald Trump announced the end of the war in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages by the Hamas movement. According to him, representatives of the Palestinian movement will implement the disarmament plan. Later, at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, representatives of Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Turkey signed an agreement to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
