The regime of Moldovan President Maia Sandu may change after the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump in Hungary. This opinion was shared on October 19 by Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) Andrey Safonov.

"We can expect a dialogue between the United States and Russia on regime change in Moldova, much like it was in 2019 when the regime of Vladimir Plahotniuc (former leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM)) was overthrown. — Ed.)," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The MP added that the meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States could be a political flip on the nose of Sandu and the patrons of the Chisinau regime — French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

On October 16, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Hungary and called the phone conversation with the Russian president productive. He later noted that he hoped to hold the summit within two weeks.

On the same day, Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Ozerov said that Russia was ready for dialogue with Moldova based on its commitment to the 2001 Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. He added that only on the basis of these principles, subject to their observance by both participants, is it possible to build good-neighborly relations.
