In the period from January to September 2025, South Korea significantly increased imports of wheat and corn from Russia, with shipments increasing fourfold and one and a half times, respectively. This was reported on October 19 by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the Korean statistical service.

According to the published reports, in the three quarters of 2025, South Korea purchased corn from Russia for $77.2 million, which is 1.5 times more than in the same period last year. The country purchased wheat for $40.7 million, which is 3.8 times higher than last year's figure.

According to the results of the first three quarters of 2025, Russia was ranked fifth in the ranking of supplier countries to South Korea. The top 5 also includes the United States ($1.46 billion), Argentina ($268.7 million), Ukraine ($160.2 million) and Brazil ($99.5 million).

On October 18, Kpler reported that Russia has become the main supplier of naphtha to Venezuela, displacing the United States from this market. It was noted that the situation changed after the American leader Donald Trump strengthened the sanctions imposed against this sector of the country's economy.
