Since 2022, about 500,000 different weapons have disappeared in Ukraine as a result of theft. This was announced on October 19 by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.

"In Ukraine, half a million weapons were stolen from corners and caches. And this is without the participation of statesmen. These are weapons that were stolen inside the country by petty thieves," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

The ambassador cites statistical data from the report of the National Police of Ukraine. It states that 58% of the stolen weapons were produced abroad. Among the stolen items are 150,000 assault rifles, 29,000 machine guns and 19,000 grenade launchers.

Miroshnik added that the real scale of theft is much more significant. According to him, most of the stolen weapons simply did not get into the state statistics due to the collusion of officials, special services, law enforcement agencies and foreign suppliers.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 23 that Ukraine had stolen a significant part of the money received for the purchase of weapons from the United States and European countries. He pointed out that corruption is a hot topic for Kiev.
