- The Interior Ministry warned about fraudsters stealing accounts in messengers through ads
In Russia, scammers have started stealing messenger accounts through fake ads. This was reported to TASS on October 19 in the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that the attackers place ads with QR codes leading to fake websites that look similar to Telegram. Users are asked to enter a confirmation code, ostensibly to protect themselves from outsiders. However, after entering the data, the scammers get full access to the messenger account.
The day before, the Interior Ministry reported that fraudsters were stealing money and access to "Public Services" through fake ads. Criminals post fake links leading to phishing sites, where they offer to enter data from "State Services" to receive compensation, subsidies and other payments.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
