On October 19, French Culture Minister Rachida Dati reported a robbery that took place on Sunday morning at the Louvre.

"The robbery took place this morning at the Louvre. There are no casualties. I am at the site with the museum staff and the police. Investigative actions are underway," she wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to the newspaper Le Parisien, several intruders broke windows in the main Paris museum and stole jewelry. They managed to escape. It is reported that the criminals were armed.

As the newspaper Le Figaro pointed out, citing eyewitnesses, the criminals could use the freight elevator to access the first floor of the museum. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the robbery and the possible disappearance of valuable exhibits.

The Louvre administration has closed the museum to the public.

Earlier, on September 4, it was reported that the Adrian Dubouche National Porcelain Museum, located in southwestern France, had been robbed. The damage is estimated at €9.5 million.
