New year-round sports grounds will appear in Moscow
Next year, the Moscow authorities will allocate 173.3 billion rubles for the development of physical culture and sports, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. The money will also be used for the construction, repair and equipping of urban sports facilities.
"By 2028, it is planned to build more than 150 all—season playgrounds and complexes, and upgrade 68 more facilities," Sobyanin wrote on the channel in the IACH.
Among other things, according to the mayor, it is planned to improve the territory of the Rowing Canal. In total, 11 multifunctional sports grounds are planned to be renovated in the next three years.
In addition, the authorities of the capital plan to increase the number of locations and sports in the projects "Sports Weekend" and "My sports district". According to Sobyanin, this "will allow them to become the largest sports free training projects not only in Russia, but all over the world."
More than 500 km of ski trails will be equipped for the development of winter sports infrastructure (including 242 km of flagship trails in each district of the capital). It is also planned to install outdoor heated pools and year-round sports grounds.
The authorities will focus on creating the necessary conditions for the development of youth sports and support for gifted children, said the Mayor of Moscow. "We will organize even more sports events for the guys, open new sections, prepare the coaching staff," he wrote.
