A court in Dagestan has sent an 11th-grader from the village of Khuchni to jail in a case involving participation in the activities of the international terrorist organization Islamic State (IS, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). As follows from the court materials, the teenager communicated with an unidentified participant through TikTok, they reported on October 19.

The criminal case was opened in mid-September, and the arrest was confirmed in early October. The student faces imprisonment for a term of 10 to 20 years.

"The investigation believes that the young man could have been involved in the activities of a terrorist organization via the Internet. He has now been placed in custody," the court's materials tell RIA Novosti.

The defense requested that the measure of restraint be changed to house arrest, indicating that the teenager was studying at school, living with his parents and had positive characteristics, but the Supreme Court of Dagestan dismissed the complaint.

Earlier, on October 12, the FSB of Russia announced the prevention of a terrorist attack, which was being prepared by the Ukrainian special services together with the leaders of the Islamic State terrorist organization. Three Russian citizens and a native of Central Asian countries who was recruited by militants were detained in Moscow. According to the agency, the criminals were planning an explosion in a densely populated area of the capital.
