Footage has emerged of the Kilauea volcano eruption in Hawaii on October 18. In the footage, you can see how a column of smoke rises to a height of 4.8 km.

"The fountain of the southern crater reached a height of just under 1.5 thousand feet (500 m), and the fountains of the northern crater reached about 1.1 thousand feet (330 m). These may be the tallest single fountains and the tallest pair of fountains observed during this eruption," the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

It is noted that fine ash and particles of thin glass fibers were seen in the southwest of the Large Island of the archipelago.
