An official list of medicines may appear in Russia, the use of which will become grounds for revoking a driver's license. We are talking about drugs that affect concentration and reaction speed, Sergei Leonov, head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, said on October 19.

According to him, the list may include sleeping pills, sedatives and other drugs that make it difficult to manage transport.

"The list of substances included in such drugs will be determined by the government. These are the drugs that worsen a person's attention and reaction," Leonov explained to RIA Novosti.

He noted that the fine for driving under the influence of such medications can amount to 45 thousand rubles, and also result in disqualification for up to two years. To make the rules clearer to citizens, the parliamentarian proposed additionally labeling such medicines with the warning "contraindicated when driving."

"This way, a person will immediately understand that the drug is already on the list and cannot be taken if they need to drive. It would be more convenient and easier for everyone," the MP added.

Earlier, on October 17, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill establishing administrative liability for driving under the influence caused by taking medications that impair attention and reaction. The Ministry of Health reported that it is already developing a list of such substances, which may include, in particular, antiepileptic and anesthetic drugs.
