The Guardian reported Egypt's intention to lead a contingent to stabilize Gaza

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) may appoint Egypt as the head of an international force to stabilize the situation in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on October 18 by The Guardian newspaper, citing sources.

"According to diplomats, a UN Security Council resolution is being prepared <...> to grant the international stabilization forces significant powers to monitor security in the Gaza Strip, and there is every reason to believe that Egypt will lead them," the newspaper notes.
