Over the summer of 2025, the volume of military supplies from the European Union (EU) for Ukraine's needs decreased by 57%. This was reported on October 18 by the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ).

It is noted that in June, the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program was launched, under which NATO member countries could purchase weapons for Ukraine from the United States. However, in practice, the result was not as large-scale as expected.

"However, the expected momentum from this initiative has not materialized. On the contrary, arms supplies have been sharply reduced recently. In the summer, the volume of European commitments decreased by 57% compared to the first half of the year, from an average of €3.8 billion to €1.9 billion per month," the publication says.

It also became known that the total monthly volume of military aid from all countries helping Ukraine was about 40% lower than in the first half of the year.

On September 23, retired military expert Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk said that Ukraine would not be able to continue fighting without Western help, and even a reduction in support would lead to irreversible consequences. According to the expert, if you remove all supplies from NATO and the United States, in two weeks the country will become a bankrupt state, it will not be able to carry out any military operations, pay salaries, or replenish reserves.
