The rally in support of Karapetyan in Yerevan ended with a march to the detention center

A rally of thousands of the "In Our Way" movement, founded by arrested businessman Samvel Karapetyan, in Yerevan ended with a march to the detention center where the businessman himself is being held, as well as the archbishops of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on October 18.

About 25 thousand participants took part in the rally. These are the largest protests in Armenia since 2022.

Through lawyers, the entrepreneur stated that he was ready to lead the party he was creating. The political association will participate in the parliamentary elections in 2026 in Armenia.

The start of the rally was announced earlier that day. The protest took place in Freedom Square, where the police gathered large forces. The footage shows that many locals are standing on the street with flags, banners and items of clothing depicting the entrepreneur. Famous singer Nune Yesayan performed on the stage.

Karapetyan's detention became known on June 18. The reason was his public expression of disagreement with the attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church, which came from the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. At the same time, the Investigative Committee of Armenia sent a petition to the court for Karapetyan's detention. He was charged with calling for the seizure of power in Armenia. The arrest was repeatedly extended, for example, on October 16.
