A Costa Rican citizen died on Mount Elbrus. This was announced on October 18 by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kabardino-Balkaria.

"At an altitude of 5,200, a 49-year—old climber who was in an unregistered group suddenly became ill, the man died suddenly," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that four rescuers were sent to search, and two pieces of equipment were also involved in the search. An investigation team is working on the site.

On October 7, Reuters reported that a tourist from South Korea died while climbing Mera Peak in Nepal. It is specified that the Korean tourist climbed with an escort to a peak with a height of 6.4 thousand meters, located about 30 km from Mount Everest. However, after climbing, he became a victim of a sudden snowstorm in the Himalayas.
