A rally in support of businessman Karapetyan has begun in Yerevan.

A rally in support of entrepreneur and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan and priests with the participation of the "In Our Way" movement has begun in Yerevan. Footage from the demonstration on October 18 is published by Izvestia.

The protest action is taking place in Freedom Square, where the police have gathered large forces. The footage shows that many locals are standing on the street with flags, banners and items of clothing depicting the entrepreneur. Famous singer Nune Yesayan performs on stage.

After the rally, a march is planned to the building of the National Security Service (NSS), where Karapetyan and the arrested clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) are being held.

Karapetyan's detention became known on June 18. The reason was his public expression of disagreement with the attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church, which came from the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. At the same time, the Investigative Committee of Armenia sent a petition to the court for Karapetyan's detention. He was charged with calling for the seizure of power in Armenia. The arrest was repeatedly extended, for example, on October 16.
