Russian President Vladimir Putin's likely route to Hungary for upcoming summit talks with American leader Donald Trump may run through the Turkish-Serbian corridor. This was announced on October 17 by the Airlive portal.

"At the moment, the official flight plan has not been published, but the Turkish-Serbian corridor seems to be the most practical route for the arrival of the Russian president in Hungary," the publication says.

At the same time, Putin's route to the Hungarian capital should pass by the member states of the European Union (EU) against the background of restrictions on Russia's access to airspace. It is noted that the roundabout route to Budapest by plane can be about 5 thousand km, which will increase the travel time by 3 hours compared to the direct route of 1.5 thousand km.

Earlier in the day, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Budapest had become the venue for a future meeting of the Russian and American leaders, since Hungary is the only one in Europe that follows the path of peace. According to him, Hungary is a country where there is a real possibility that the negotiations of the heads of state can lead to peace.

The American president announced a meeting with Putin in Hungary on October 16. He also called the phone conversation with the Russian president productive. Shortly after, Trump said he hoped to hold the summit within two weeks.
